You’re the Only Ten I See!

Hello from the future! I have been keeping up with my blogs... just haven't been posting. Going to do my best to get all of them out that have been written before the end of December! So consider this the beginning og the NUTmobile advent haha! A countdown to the new year. Lets jump back to the very beginning of September. Past PB&Jessie, take it away.

That’s right! Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis. Yee haw!

Our first night back was spent in Greensboro, NC, where we picked up the NUT, and we headed out to Knoxville, TN on our first full day back.

We just had one night there, and I was pretty pooped from traveling for 2 days straight, so I stayed back and took my first pool dip of the year. It was actually so nice and I definitely want to take advantage of the outdoor pools as we travel south.

We drove to Nashville the next day and after a quick settle at the hotel, we headed out to Broadway to get food and drinks. There is a huge Assembly Food Hall that worked perfect for us as we all have different tastes and it was so nice to just pick what I wanted! I got a Nashville Hot Roll from a sushi place and it was so good I ended up getting it the next day too. Was a perfect way to try the flavors of a Nashville Hot Chicken without eating chicken, which I really appreciated. We met up with a few of Ryan’s buddies while we were there, and ventured into a couple hat and boot stores. I don’t think cowboy hats are for me, but they were fun to try on.

The group wanted to head out to some bars, and I tagged along, but I could just feel something was off with me. About an hour in at the first bar, I started to get too overwhelmed with the atmosphere, and was just feeling very emotional about my Grandma. I decided to leave the bar and my other Nuts behind, which ended up being the right decision for me. I called Chase, and him and and Nick so wonderfully talked to me for almost an hour and helped me calm down from a pretty overstimulating place. Even when my friends are far away, they are incredible and I feel so thankful!

I ubered back to my hotel and got into my comfies, and tucked myself into bed… then realized it was only 6:30. I felt silly just sitting in my room by myself, so I looked up to see if there were any movies playing near me, and discovered if I left right that second, I could make it to the last showing of DIDI at the Regal Cinema about 15 minutes away. In an determined fervor to take my night back into my own hands, I called and uber and slipped on my shoes.

I ran into the cinema, grabbed a bucket of popcorn and a slurpee, and made it to the movie during the last preview.

DIDI was incredible - a prefect time capsule of being a kid in the early aughts, and the scenes with the main character and his grandmother just made me cry and cry and cry.

This was the first time I had ever been to a movie completely by myself, and I loved it. I have been the live theatre shows alone before, and it was even easier to do than that - so I’ll definitely be going to the movies on my own more!

In the spirit of practicing my independence and alone time, the next morning I woke up and walked to the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum! This was such an incredible musuem to go to and I felt like I got a great taste of Nashville by going here.

I definitely need to brush up on my rock and roll history because I did not know who most of the musicians were (or rather, I couldn’t name you a song of theirs) but there were some very cool standouts! My favorite part was the Grammy Gallery as it was very singer focused and I recognized a lot more people! It was also very interactive - I got to try my hand at the keys, drums, guitar and pedals, beat pads, mixing, producing, singing, and rapping(lol) and it was SO fun.

They had archival pianos, guitars, outfits and other musical instruments from so many different artists - I highly, highly recommend!

(My only complaint, this was a perfect example of a terrible audio tour. There was NO MUSIC, just an old man droning on a bit too long about every single item in the display cases, and I realized after about 3 audio clips that he was essentially just reading what was already on the plaques… so that was a waste of 4 dollars 😅)

The day before, Ryan discovered that 2 of the Hotdoggers were also in Nashville and we made plans to meet up with them for dinner, and then hopefully have a crossover with Big Bun (their Weinermobile) and Marshell (The NUTmobile). We did a little shopping around at a few stores including Garage Sale Vintage and Acme Feed and Seed. Then Cooper, one of the hotdoggers, told us to meet them at this random parking lot off Broadway and we walked 30 minutes to get there only to discover there was not a single hot dog shaped anything anywhere. We waited for 10 minutes before finally asking where they were… to which they responded “Acme Feed and Seed”.

Ahhhhh! 😂

As we trudged back to right where we were, in the Nashville heat, we laughed about the absurdity of our jobs and how the most annoying thing that happened today was the Weinermobile not being where we thought it would be. 🌭

We met up with them and got a great dinner which was accompanied by trivia that I can only describe as being “thrust upon us”. The host, wearing a satin purple shirt, white jeans, and a fedora basically begged us to come down to the second floor for trivia… however we were on the rooftop with a gorgeous view. So 10 minutes later, the host come back up to us and said he decided to move the trivia upstairs so we could participate 😂

At that point saying no would have been cruel, and we were all down. This poor trivia host was struggling tho - he had to leave behind all of his sound equipment and so he just had to scream every question as loud as he could… finally he decided to just walk around and tell each table the questions personally. It was pretty pitiful, but he was doing his absolute best and we had a lot of fun!

Out of the three teams playing, we places 3rd!!! (NO NOT LAST. THIRD🤬)

We headed out to the parking lot where we finally got to see it, THE WEINERMOBILE! This was an extra special visit tho, because we got to actually take a ride inside it as Cooper and Kait were taking us back to our hotel so they could meet Marshell. Big Bun is the newest Ween with all updated interior and Apple Car Play (jealous!) and it was such a smooth ride. Hoping that a NUTmobile future looks like that 🤓

Finally it was time for the Weens to meet the Nut, and the NUT to meet the Big Bun.

A photoshoot commenced:

Thanks for a fun yeehaw time Nashville! I really got to explore more independent activities which has been a huge goal of mine this year. Pools, movie theatres, and museums are being added to the list of places that are fun to go solo!

Memphis recap in the next blog :)
